She performs these alongside repertoire from the Great American Songbook, such as tunes popularized by Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Julie London. Angela recorded her 2019 album in New York City, co-produced by bassist Cameron Brown. Toronto Music Report writes that Angela is “a gem of a vocalist who makes all her chosen material sound magical.” JazzWeekly describes the former actress as “fun and quirky, hip and a hoot, wispy and romantic; she slithers and oozes, and cleverly swings.” She won competitive grants from the Canadian governments to support the release of her second album, Love for Connoisseurs. This special line-up, which features two horns in the frontline but no guitar - which is indispensable in the classical organ band - creates an exceptionally powerful and colorful sound that is rarely heard. It is therefore a special project of the heart of the band leader Peter Protschka - it originated in the environment of the legendary Cologne "Salon de Jazz" at the Hammond organ sessions there and has become an institution among organ fans even beyond the region. The legendary recording "Unity" with bandleader Larry Young on organ, Joe Henderson on saxophone, a brilliant 20-year-old Woody Shaw on trumpet and the great Elvin Jones on drums set the style for this band format. "Organic Universe" brings together some of the best European jazz musicians of their generation; the band plays contemporary original compositions and mixes them with freshly arranged standards.
