The great Brazilian Jazz composer, guitarist and vocalist is a special figure: she shaped her voice and musicality navigating through São Paulo jazz night, travelled the world for 5 years alongside the great legend Toquinho, dived into the lakes of jazz, bossa nova and MPB and from there emerged with a fresh, melodic and original music. Raised from Manhattan to Manila, free-spirited and joyful, her distinct voice and warm timbre has been compared to the "Queen of Blues", Dinah Washington and sultry shades of Amy Winehouse. Set to release on April 12th, 2024, Angela's debut album will feature two of her original songs and six jazz standards including "Evil Gal Blues", "You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me" and the title track, "Prisoner of Love." Following the release of her album, Angela will embark on a US & Europe "Evil Gal Tour" with her guartet. She first cut her teeth in NYC after stepping foot in the iconic Small's Jazz Club in the West Village at just 16 years old and has since moved to France, quickly becoming a regular on the Paris jazz scene, including a frequent spot at the infamous Duc Des Lombards. Her album pays tribute to the musical greats of the past who shaped who she is today. Recorded in the heart of Paris at Zoot Studios (Peter Bernstein, Kirk Lightsey, Steve Williams), her quartet is inspired by the Nat King Cole Trio; piano, guitar and double bass.
